Original pochoir from the rare series "The War Years, 1914-1919" published as a special edition of Modes et Manieres d'Aujourd'hui (1920) Plate No. IV. Each Plate was dated according to the "War Year" depicted and each was paired with a poem by Henry Jacques. Here it is 1914, the war just underway, and the fashionable Miss is dogged by sadness, fear and a sense of helplessness, having just bid her lover "Adieux".
