This is an original pochoir illustration that specially accompanied a rare war issue of La Gazette du Bon Ton, 1917. Drian executed 6 designs for this issue, 3 of them, including this one, featuring the Tricolore; 2 were in more muted tones and Le Communique a study in red and black. There is considerable speculation as to the possible meanings intended in this series including secret messages and political references. Overall Size:
