Thayaht
La Vague
Pochoir
This piece is by Ernesto Michaelles (1893-1959), who produced sculpture, paintings, fabric designs, theatrical costumes and fashion illustrations under the pseudonym "THAYAHT". Michaelles, fascinated with applying his study of dynamic symmetry (Paris and Harvard) to the arts, created his hallmark style by combining the geometrics of cubism with the Art Deco curvilinear style - the achievement of motion and elegance all in one go! LA VAGUE is done in the hand-colored pochoir technique and is classic THAYAHT. It appeared as plate #11 in issue #3 from the set of 10 Gazette du Bon Tons published in from June 1923 to June 1924. Approx. h.9.5in X w.7.75in; h.24.1cm X w.19.7cm
