Carlos Bady
Mado S'Habille
Pochoir
SOLD
An original pochoir illustration from La Journee de Mado published by Galerie Lutetia, Paris, 1932. Produced as one of the last pochoir pieces of the era during the harsh economic times that followed 1929 when many of the smaller couture houses had closed and several of the great illustrators had joined Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar to help ensure steady work. In the early 1930’s there was still a market for small specialty albums featuring story-based fashion design and the Parisian publishers continued to produce limited works by such artists as Paul Allier, Raoul Dufy and Carlos Bady. The four pochoirs (sold collectively) of La Journee de Mado is such a work. Each piece measures 9.25in X 7.0 in overall (23.5cm X 17.8cm) and is signed by the artist in the plate.
