A.E. Marty
Les Ailes Dans Le Vent
Pochoir
SOLD
A genuine, hand coloured, artist signed pochoir print from Modes et Manières d'Aujourd'hui: 1919, Plate XII. Limited to only 300 copies, the "M&M" audience was the very wealthy. Each annual issue featured text of poetry, fashion and entertainment, illustrated in a series of 12 pochoirs. Each edition was devoted exclusively to one artist. Here Marty closes his series with a masterpiece of symbolism and line - one of the prettiest pochoirs ever produced. As he opened the series with the return to peace and family life, he closes with a vision of exotic and far away travels. The clouds of war have broken up, the homeland once again welcomes the migratory flock, the aircraft departs (perhaps to transform from an instrument of war into the voyager's magic carpet?) and the fashionable lady stands ready to be swept off by fairer winds to romantic adventures. Stunning! H. 7.25in X W. 10.875in; H. 18.4cm X W. 27.6cm
