A.E. Marty
Bon Appetit, Madame
Pochoir
SOLD
From La Gazette du Bon Ton, Issue #4, Plate #15 (1923)- Marty's great depiction of "Madame" about to make her grand entrance to the dining salon in a lavish day coat by Poiret. Historically interesting as documentation of how Poiret stubbornly clung to pre War luxury while the styles relentlessly morphed to the sleek and glitter of the Roaring Twenties. By 1925 Poiret was having his last hurrah with his spectacular fashion runway barges moored on the Seine at the 'Exposition des Arts Decoratifs' while Marty was enjoying hot demand from Vogue and Harpers, champions of 'the new look'.
